16th ANNUAL EUROPEAN FESTIVAL TALENT SHOW
Applications Now Being Accepted For First Ever Event For All Ages!
Burnaby, BC — Eurofest BC Society is now accepting entries for the first ever 16th Annual European Festival Talent Show to be held Sunday, May 26th, 2013 at 3 pm in the Swangard Stadium in Burnaby.
Application forms are available on the website http://www.europeanfestival.ca/talent-show, along with details about the talent show, rules and regulations. Contestants may also e-mail Marika@marikaproductions.com or mail to European Talent Show, 6540 Thomas Street, Burnaby, BC V5B 4P9. Along with the entry form, everyone must submit an audition video/DVD or YouTube link no older than 12-months. The deadline for entries is Wednesday, April 17th, 2013.
The 16th Annual European Festival Talent Show will be held at 3 p.m. on the main stage. First, second and third places will be awarded, as well as the Peoples Choice Award. The winner will receive $800.00, plus the opportunity to be a paid performer for the 17th Annual European Festival in 2014.
“This event is designed to showcase the most talented amateur Europeans performers that we can find in the Lower Mainland,” said Elke Porter, publicist for the European Festival. “We encourage everyone to participate.”
The 16th Annual European Festival Talent Show is open to all age groups with a European Heritage. Each contestant may enter only once, either as an individual performer, or as a member of a group. Each group may have a maximum of eight members and will be given up to four minutes to perform. Each individual or group must provide their own CD Music, taped music, instruments, props, keyboard and their CD’s must be cued ready to perform. The most important point is that the contestants are only to be amateur, non-professional performers. Anyone who is a member of a union connected with public artistic performances, who earns more than 50% of their annual income from performing or who has a recording contract etc. may not participate.
The EuroFest BC Society reserves the right to make any final decisions on all matters not covered by these rules and regulations, as well as the right to change, alter and/or rearrange parts or all of these competition rules and regulations at any time. Good luck!

Entry forms must be completed and received no later than Wednesday, April 17, 2013. The Administrator in its sole discretion may accept or refuse to accept entry forms that are late, incomplete or illegible.

Managed by the non-profit EuroFest BC Society, the first European Festival took place in 1998 at the Alliance Francaise in Vancouver to help promote and educate local residents about the diversity and richness of Europe’s cultural spectrum. Ten countries participated in the first event and presented some of the national customs, local traditions and original cuisine of Europe. At the 1999 event in Granville Island, ten new countries joined, doubling the participants up to twenty. In 2001, the Festival was held at the Scandinavian Community Centre in Burnaby for the first time, while 2012 the Festival decided to move to the spacious Swangard Stadium.
The Festival takes place at the corner of Kingsway and Boundary Road in Burnaby, and is also accessible via public transit with a stop at the Patterson Skytrain Station or the 019 Bus from Metrotown. The exact times and locations can be seen at: http://tripplanning.translink.ca/.
Tickets will be on sale for $8 online at the http://www.europeanfestival.ca or $10 at the door. The weekend pass costs $14 if purchased beforehand or $15 at the Gate. Children under 12 are free.
