Since I have worked with non-profits since I graduated from High School, I have always been interested in the latest tools that other people use to raise funds successfully. Lately, I have run into a new tool called “Go get Funding”, which can be found at: http://gogetfunding.com/. This website works both ways. You can also use it to donate money to support people or organizations that you know and trust.
Go Get Funding is also on Facebook, Twitter, Yahoo, Google and you can subscribe to their RSS feed. The “How to Fundraise” page shares causes that can be used to successfully solicit funds: personal causes, medical & healing, animals/pets, volunteer & service, funerals & tributes, businesses & startups, special events, creative causes and much more. Fundraisers can come onto the site and easily create a fundraiser in minutes.
In the FAQ’s, they describe the steps you need to take in order to get the funding you need. Step 1 is ensuring you have a thorough description that explains your cause. Step 2 is offering worthy rewards and Step 3 is to include a video.
Promotions tips include things like including a personal message to your closest friends and family and asking them to spread the message within their social networks. You can also meet with people by hosting events, phoning people, distributing flyers and attending networking sessions. If you have an advanced fundraiser, you could even try contacting the media or creating a viral and share-worthy video.
To get listed in the “public results”, fundraisers need to raise at least $100. With ongoing fundraisers, you can receive donations indefinitely, while with times fundraisers, you can also receive more funds if you have “allowed overfunding” while setting up your fundraiser. For example, if you are raising funds for an event and you still want to keep raising funds afterwards to pay for next years events for for marketing/public relations services.
If you do use Go Get Funding for your cause, please let me know how things went. If successful, I can write about it in my blog!
